Her brothers are dead, her armies and their war mammoths long defeated and caged behind their borders. Alone and sometimes reviled, she must choose her allies carefully.Rabbit, a handmaiden, sold by her parents to the palace for the lack of five baskets of dye, befriends the emperor's lonely new wife and gets more than she bargained for.At once feminist high fantasy and an indictment of monarchy, this evocative debut follows the rise of the empress In-yo, who has few resources and fewer friends. I read this book in the second week of shelter-at-home in April 2020. It's gorgeous, even if not quite what I was expecting: it’s the story of an empress who overthrew a dynasty, as told sixty years later by her handmaiden to the cleric who is attempting to chronicle the house in which the empress once lived in exile. Beautifully written but still held at a distance, which might actually be one reason why I liked it, in this time of emotional fraughtness. My reading pet peeve is that so many stories are just another tired old copy of the same, offered up in the same stale way. This is a diamond in the rough - charming, told in such a refreshingly different way, yet still managing to make me care and feel so much for characters I know so little of by the end.For some it will feel like not enough detail is given and that the story ends too soon.I found it absolutely beautiful, intricate, intriguing and well worth another read Read Online The Empress of Salt and Fortune (The Singing Hills Cycle Book 1) Download The Empress of Salt and Fortune (The Singing Hills Cycle Book 1) The Empress of Salt and Fortune (The Singing Hills Cycle Book 1) PDF The Empress of Salt and Fortune (The Singing Hills Cycle Book 1) Mobi Free Reading The Empress of Salt and Fortune (The Singing Hills Cycle Book 1) Download Free Pdf The Empress of Salt and Fortune (The Singing Hills Cycle Book 1) PDF Online The Empress of Salt and Fortune (The Singing Hills Cycle Book 1) Mobi Online The Empress of Salt and Fortune (The Singing Hills Cycle Book 1) Reading Online The Empress of Salt and Fortune (The Singing Hills Cycle Book 1) Read Online Nghi Vo Download Nghi Vo Nghi Vo PDF Nghi Vo Mobi Free Reading Nghi Vo Download Free Pdf Nghi Vo PDF Online Nghi Vo Mobi Online Nghi Vo Reading Online Nghi VoDownload Mobi Up in Smoke: A Gay Firefighter Romance (Hotshots Book 4) By Annabeth Albert
