I enjoyed the first book and would give it a 4. Book 2 is so repetitive I have to give it a 1. The couple that won’t lie to each other ever again immediately resume lying; James keeps the killer asteroids a secret for two years. Emma debates in every one of her chapters whether or not to tell James she’s pregnant. Again. Also I don’t think the author has a grasp of science at all. James builds Lt. Data and no one can figure out it’s a robot. Drones fly around in space with seemingly endless fuel. I won’t bother with book 3. I would give it 0 starts if possible! The premise of this book is absurd. Earth was miraculous saved from annihilation but the enemy was not truly defeated and all the survivors did was try and rebuild the world instead of preparing for WAR? The smartest man on the planet doesn't scenario every possibility and " misses" an incoming asteroid attach of thousands of asteroids ( just wow) Then when it comes the book spends endless chapters on the rescue from just two perspectives and focuses on said geniuses wife being pregnant and the interaction of his wife and their first daughter asking where "da" is it just isn't readable I couldn't finish the absurdness this represents. So many plot holes and the story is so not interesting. Terrible. I skimmed through 3/4 of the book in about 45 minutes and they were still clearing rocks from a tunnel and hugging her daughter and vomiting from morning sickness oh yeah the mother to be is the only person available to explore a dangerous way out from being trapped and this is after the only man " said genius " who is smart enough to save the planet and deal with the entity was allowed to try it also and both almost get killed? WTH. So the author just puts characters that he has built up to be heroes in harms way and thinks that is suspenseful story telling.
